What happens to inbox and visitor data

This policy describes how Temporary Mail handles information when you browse the site or use a temporary inbox. You do not need to provide a personal email address or create a public mailbox account, but the service must process incoming messages and some technical information to operate the inbox.

Information processed when you use an inbox

To create and display an inbox, the service processes its generated email address, inbox type and status, access session, creation and expiry times, and incoming messages. Message data can include sender and recipient addresses, sender name, subject, text or HTML body, received time, and details or files for attachments.

The service also records activity needed for its operations dashboard, such as when an inbox is created, accessed, expires or is deleted, and when messages arrive or are opened. Depending on the connection and available proxy data, these records may include your IP address, an approximate city or country, and a browser or device category. Authorized administrators may access inbox records and messages to operate the service.

Why this information is used

Inbox and message data are processed so the service can create an address, receive messages, display them, track the inbox timer, and remove stored message data when an inbox ends. Technical and activity data are used to operate the site, understand whether inbox features are being used, diagnose delivery or performance issues, and protect the service from unauthorized access.

The service does not need your personal email address to create a public inbox. If you include personal details in a message or provide them to another website, those details may still appear in information processed by the service.

Mail and infrastructure providers

An external mail provider is used to receive or retrieve messages for an inbox. That provider may process the temporary address and the messages sent to it so the inbox can work. The provider used can depend on the inbox configuration, and its own privacy terms apply to its separate processing.

The site also relies on hosting, storage, network, and security infrastructure to deliver pages and handle requests. When an approximate location is not available from the hosting connection, the service may send a public IP address to ipwho.is to look up a city and country. A successful lookup is cached by the service for up to one day. The location is approximate, not GPS location.

Browser storage and cookies

Your browser's local storage keeps the active inbox access details and address so the site can restore that inbox on the same browser. If you clear local storage or use another browser, you may lose the saved route back to an active inbox. The site also uses local storage for your appearance preference and a cookie to remember your selected language. The language preference cookie can remain in your browser for up to one year.

These browser settings support the site features described above. The public site does not currently load third-party advertising tags. If advertising services are introduced, this policy will be updated to identify the providers, the technologies they use, and the choices available to visitors before those services are enabled.

Storage, expiry, and deletion

The inbox timer shows how long an inbox is intended to remain available. When you delete an inbox or it expires, the scheduled cleanup process removes its stored message contents and attachment files. Cleanup runs separately from the inbox timer, so removal may not happen at the exact second the timer ends.

Some operational records are kept separately from full message contents. These can include the temporary address, sender address, subject, message and inbox event times, inbox status, IP address, approximate location, and browser category. They are not removed by the same expiry cleanup, and no fixed automatic deletion period is currently configured for them. Clearing browser storage removes the saved details from that browser; it does not delete server-side operational records.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can delete an active inbox with its on-screen controls and clear the site's saved data in your browser settings. Do not use a temporary inbox for messages you need to keep; deletion or expiry cannot be undone.

Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights to ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or limits on the processing of personal information. The scope of those rights depends on the law that applies and the records involved. To make a request, contact the operator of this website and specify what information or right your request concerns.

Changes to this policy

This page may be updated when the service's data handling changes. The current version is published here. Material changes to the information collected, the providers involved, or retention practices should be reflected before the changed processing begins.
